What We Do

What We Do

Since 1999, the Foundation for Education and Social Development (FESODEV) has been working to improve the lives of Malawians through education, vocational training, economic empowerment, and community development programs. Our goal is to build a self-reliant society where everyone especially youth, women, and vulnerable groups can access opportunities to learn, earn, and thrive.

Vocational Skills Training

Hands-on, market-oriented training for self-reliance

We equip youth and women with practical skills to become employable and start small businesses. Our courses focus on trades that meet market demand and create immediate income opportunities.

  • Tailoring and Fashion Design
  • Carpentry and Joinery
  • Hairdressing and Cosmetology
  • Electrical and Solar Installation
  • Plumbing, Painting, and Decoration

Graduates receive mentorship and start-up kits to launch businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Women & Youth Economic Empowerment

Financial tools, mentorship and business skills

We believe financial independence is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Through our microfinance and entrepreneurship support programs, we help women and youth:

  • Access small business loans and savings groups
  • Receive business management and financial literacy training
  • Build sustainable income sources for their families

These initiatives strengthen community resilience and promote inclusive economic growth.

Girls’ Empowerment & Education

Keeping girls in school and building future leaders

FESODEV is committed to empowering girls and ensuring they stay in school. We run outreach programs that promote:

  • Reproductive health and hygiene education
  • Leadership and life skills training
  • Mentorship and education support for school-aged girls

Our efforts aim to reduce early marriage, promote gender equality, and create future female leaders.

Agriculture & Food Security

Sustainable farming for long-term food security

We promote sustainable farming practices and help rural communities achieve food security through:

  • Training in modern farming and irrigation techniques
  • Seed and tool distribution to smallholder farmers
  • Climate-smart agriculture and environmental awareness

These programs improve household nutrition and income while encouraging community self-reliance.

Social Development & Health Programs

Holistic approaches to healthier communities

Beyond education and training, we support holistic community development by facilitating:

  • Early childhood education initiatives
  • Community health and hygiene awareness campaigns
  • Environmental management and clean-up activities

Through collaboration with local and international partners, we help create safer, healthier communities for all.

Partnerships & Collaboration

Working together for sustainable results

FESODEV works hand in hand with local governments, faith-based organizations, community groups, and development partners. Together, we deliver programs that promote sustainable livelihoods, reduce poverty, and expand opportunities for marginalized communities.
